What is the best mattress firmness for me?

Euro-Flex Mattress Firmness Levels

We are all different. We have various body shapes along with distinct support and comfort needs. We also have our own unique sleeping positions and habits. Based on these reasons, it is apparent that one mattress firmness does not fit all. We want to share with you a few details that will help you in choosing the right mattress density for you.

When shopping for a mattress, it is important to pay attention to the way your body feels while lying on the mattress.

SUPPORT & COMFORT

Support and Comfort are the two main ingredients we need during a good night’s sleep. We sleep an average of 8 hours every night. If our body is not properly supported, or does not experience pleasing comfort, we will not achieve that good night’s sleep. We will toss and turn all night, and wake up feeling like we haven’t slept enough.

To accomplish a good night’s sleep, our mattress must have a good combination of both: Support & Comfort. But with so many mattress options, how do you find the one that will work for you?

When trying out a mattress, ask yourself these questions:

Is your body getting the needed support? Is your spine aligned? Are your body curves accommodated? Are you sinking too much into the mattress? Or does the mattress feel like a piece of wood with only a little padding?

You need a mattress that will accommodate your body curves, and still provide you with proper support. It’s not an easy task and that’s why we are here to help. Comparing different mattress options and paying attention to how your body reacts will provide you with insight to help you make your decision.

PRESSURE POINTS

Close your eyes and pay attention to pressure points that emerge along your body. After narrowing down your options to a few, take additional time to get familiar with the mattress. Position yourself the way you sleep most of the time and take a minimum of 20 minutes lying on the mattress. If your body starts aching, that’s probably not the correct firmness. We will guide you through this process to minimize how tiring the choosing process can be.

We will ask you a series of important questions when you first arrive to help narrow down the options. We do our best to understand our customer’s sleeping needs and utilize our knowledge of mattresses to simplify this process for you.

Side Sleepers: If you are a side sleeper, you should be mainly concerned about any pressure points in your hip or shoulder area. Look for a mattress that accommodates both, comfortably.

Back Sleepers: If you sleep the majority of the night on your back, your hips must sink in just enough to accommodate them, but not so far that it pulls your body out of alignment. Also, your lower back needs proper support.

EDGE SUPPORT

This is important if you must sit on the edge of your bed, or if you like sleeping closer to the edge so you don’t feel like you will roll of the bed. It is also necessary for when we grow older and need that extra support on the edge of the mattress to help us lift ourselves up from the bed. Make sure to test the mattress edge as well.

Euro-Flex Mattress Firmness Levels

Now that we’ve shared most of our secrets with you, here is a summary of our mattresses firmness levels:

Soft

This firmness level will conform to all of your body’s curves, while providing complete support. This soft density allows the organic cotton and lambswool to hug and cradle your body. It has a plush feel, like you are drifting on a cloud. The soft firmness is mostly recommended for side sleepers. It is most likely to be too soft for back and stomach sleepers. It also works well for those that have a preference for very soft beds.

Soft Medium

The soft medium still conforms to all of your curves. It allows your hips to sink into the mattress-eliminating any pressure points-while supporting your lower back. This firmness level has a little more support than the soft mattress, but still feels comfortable. The soft medium firmness is also mostly recommended for side sleepers. If you are a slim person, this firmness will probably work for back or stomach sleepers as well.

Medium

The medium firmness provides more lift than the soft or soft medium levels. Your hips will sink into the mattress with lower back support, without a plush back feel. The medium firmness provides more support than the soft and soft medium version. The medium works well for side sleepers, as well for most back and stomach sleepers.

Medium Firm

This is our best seller. The medium firm firmness maintains the nice comfort layer, but provides additional support. This level is perfect for people who do not like the ‘sinking into the mattress’ feeling. It’s a superb combination of comfort plus support. This is the firmness level most of our customers choose. And if you need a mattress for your guestroom, this firmness level will please most people. Ideal for all sleeping positions.

Firm

The firm firmness will not let you sink into the mattress. If you prefer only support, this is the best choice for you. This level is excellent for people who struggle to move around on the mattress. It allows you to change positions much easier. Mostly recommended for back and stomach sleepers. Side sleepers might experience pressure points on the shoulders and hips.

Extra Firm

If you prefer the firmness of the ground, this level is for you. Your hips are held high with constant support. Unless you are the rare person who loves an extra firm mattress, we do not recommend this level for the majority of our customers.

*These descriptions were written by someone who is 5’ 4” and weighs 185 pounds. The way a firmness level will feel is subjective and changes depending on the person’s size and shape.

**You must also take into consideration your mattress foundation. We recommend purchasing a complete Euro-Flex set to ensure the bed will feel the exact same way as in our showroom. Of course, if you have a foundation that you prefer to keep, that is no problem whatsoever. The use of a different foundation, though, will make the mattress feel either a little softer or a little firmer.

We recommend anyone shopping for a mattress to test the firmness level in-store prior to purchasing it.
