Latex Pillow Purchase Guide

The most important function of a pillow is to provide the correct neck and head support, keeping your spine aligned while sleeping.

There are a few important aspects that will help you in choosing the right pillow. These aspects include your shoulder height, the firmness of your mattress, and your personal preference for pillow height and firmness.

Our All-natural Talalay Latex Pillows are available in two sizes (queen and king) and two firmnesses (low-profile, which feels like a medium firmness, and high-profile, which feels like a medium-firm pillow).

Our Organic Dunlop Pillows are available in three sizes (standard, queen, and king) and one firmness only (medium).

Latex Pillow Firmness and Recommendations

  • Soft-Plush Latex Pillow: As the name suggests, the Soft-Plush Latex Pillow is the softest latex pillow you can find. This is a fluffy pillow that will allow your head to sink into it without much holding back.

The Soft-Plush latex pillow is mostly recommended for stomach or back sleepers. The Soft-Plush latex pillow generally does not provide enough pillow height for side sleepers, and it is also recommended for kids.

The shorter (in height) and flatter latex pillow that we available is the Soft-Plush Classic Talalay latex pillow in the Standard size.

  • Medium Latex Pillow: The Medium Latex Pillow is recommended for those that sleep in various sleeping positions, including side and back sleepers. The Medium Latex Pillow provides more support than the soft-plush latex pillow, allowing your head to sink into the pillow while providing some holdback.

The Medium Latex Pillow will provide enough support for most side sleepers, and it won’t be too high for most back sleepers.

  • Firm Latex Pillow: The Firm Latex Pillow is mostly recommended for side sleepers only. The Firm Latex Pillow provides the most support, allowing your head to sink into the pillow only slightly. The Firm Latex Pillow is still very comfortable and buoyant. However, the Firm Latex Pillow will generally be too firm for most back sleepers, holding the head too high on the pillow.

The taller and fuller latex pillow available is the Firm latex pillow in King size.

Best Latex Pillow for Side Sleepers

If you are a side sleeper, your shoulder height and mattress firmness are two important aspects to consider. You want to find a pillow that will fill in your shoulder height from the mattress, just enough to keep your spine aligned. As the picture shows, you want to avoid your head sinking too much into the pillow or choosing a pillow that does not provide enough height to accommodate your shoulder height. You also want to avoid a pillow that is too tall and will keep your head too high.

Best Latex Pillow for Side Sleepers

The softer your mattress, the most your shoulder will sink into the mattress. Thus, reducing the space between the head and the mattress. For side sleepers that sleep on a softer mattress, a Medium Latex Pillow would be the best option (in most cases).

For those that sleep on a firmer mattress, the shoulder will not sink as much into the mattress. Thus, a Firm Latex Pillow is most likely to work best for you.

If you like a very flat pillow, the Soft-Plush Classic Latex Pillow in Standard size is your best option.

If you like a lower pillow, but not too low, the Soft-Plush latex pillow in Queen or King sizes are both great options.
